Housing register
South Norfolk Council's housing register is called Home Options. Not everybody is able to join Home Options. The following questions will help you to check whether you are eligible to apply or not. You should allow between 5 and 15 minutes to complete these questions.
Eligibility
Certain people from abroad, including some who are subject to immigration control, are not eligible for an allocation of affordable housing. These regulations are set by the government and are updated regularly. The Council follows these regulations and any relevant case law.

Qualification criteria
Applicants who are eligible for an allocation must meet the following criteria to qualify for an allocation and to join the housing register:
Have a housing need which places them in the Emergency, Gold, Silver or Bronze Bands of our allocations policy. These bands are explained in our
allocations policy
And/or have a local connection to the South Norfolk Council district

The priority that you may receive if you join our housing register will depend on whether you have an assessed housing need.
Housing need
There are 5 priority bandings that customers joining Home Options can receive. These are: Low Need, Bronze Band, Silver Band, Gold Band and Emergency Band. More information about these bands can be found in the

You may have a housing need according to our housing register policy. Any housing need will need to be evidenced before you are given priority for it. A housing Officer will contact you to confirm what evidences you will need to supply to demonstrate that you have a housing need if you apply to join our housing register.
